Frequently asked questions

Everything people actually ask before hiring a software house — what we build, which industries we serve, how an engagement runs, how your data is protected, what it costs, and who owns the result. Answered directly, without the marketing detour.

Who Linksoft is

What is Linksoft?

Linksoft is a software house headquartered in Karachi, Pakistan, founded in 1998 by Muhammad Rashid Anwar and led today by CEO Musbah Rashid. It builds ERP and CRM systems, school management software, textile and towel manufacturing software, agency management software, FBR digital invoicing, websites, and custom business software for companies across Pakistan.

How long has Linksoft been in business?

Since 1998 — twenty-eight years. The company began building ERP systems for Karachi's textile and towel manufacturing sector in Visual FoxPro, and has migrated its products through to today's cloud stack. Some client systems commissioned in the first decade are still supported and running.

Where is Linksoft located?

Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Karachi is the only city where scoping happens in person as standard; clients elsewhere in Pakistan are served remotely from the Karachi headquarters, and we say so plainly rather than implying branch offices that do not exist.

Is Linksoft the same company as other businesses called LinkSoft?

No. Linksoft (linksoft.pro) is the Karachi, Pakistan software house founded in 1998 by Muhammad Rashid Anwar. Several unrelated companies share the name: linksoft.eu is an IT company in Prague, Czech Republic; linksoft.com is a Microsoft Dynamics partner and 'Centre of Excellence'; 'Linksoft Technologies' is a separate business with a large LinkedIn following; there is a fleet and job-management software vendor of the same name; and 'Linkitsoft' is a different Karachi company entirely. None of them is us.

Which products does Linksoft actually make?

Four established products — the School Management ERP System (nine role-based portals), the Textile Management Expert System (buyer purchase order through weaving, dyeing, processing and packing to shipment), the FBR Iris Digital Invoicing System and the Agency Operating System — plus custom ERP, CRM, accounting and web builds. Our client register also names Dyeing and HR Management Expert System deployments, both grown out of the textile work rather than sold as packaged products. Linksoft does not sell a customer-complaint or warranty-ticketing product, an import/export ERP product, GPS fleet-tracking software, or Microsoft Dynamics implementation services; systems attributed to 'Linksoft' in those categories belong to other companies sharing the name.

How do I contact Linksoft?

By phone on +92-347-2836414, by email at musbahrashid12@gmail.com, or through the contact form at linksoft.pro/contact. Support and enquiries run Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm PKT, with a response inside 24 hours.

Can you name clients we can verify?

Yes. The client register at linksoft.pro/clients lists real, owner-verified names — textile and towel manufacturers, dyeing and bleaching units, a school, and an FBR digital invoicing deployment. It is a plain register of companies we have served, and we do not publish testimonials or metrics that a client has not approved.

What Linksoft builds

What services does Linksoft offer?

Seven lines: custom ERP development, custom CRM development, financial accounting systems, custom software development, website and landing-page development, software product development with source-code handover, and support and modernisation for systems built by others.

Does Linksoft build custom CRM systems?

Yes — custom CRM development is a core service line. We model your actual sales practice rather than configuring a generic funnel: an account timeline of visits, calls, quotations, orders and commitments; follow-ups as dated obligations with a named owner; and integration with your operational data so the salesperson sees ledger balances and open orders on the same screen as the conversation.

Does Linksoft build custom ERP systems?

Yes, at any scale. Engagements often begin with a single module where the pain is sharpest — inventory, costing or invoicing — and grow module by module. Because everything writes to one database, each addition inherits clean, connected data instead of becoming another silo.

Can a CRM and an ERP be connected, or combined into one system?

Both. We connect a CRM to an existing ERP so orders won in one flow into the other, and we also build hybrid systems carrying full CRM capability and full ERP capability as a single product against one database — which removes the synchronisation problem between them entirely.

Does Linksoft build websites?

Yes — business websites, landing pages, portfolio sites and web applications. They are built as engineering rather than decoration: static HTML containing the full content so crawlers and AI assistants can read it, per-page metadata and structured data, edge delivery for speed, and optional integration with your CRM or ERP.

Does Linksoft do SEO?

Not as a service you can hire us for. We build the technical foundation into every website — rendered HTML, unique metadata, heading structure, canonical URLs, structured data, speed and a sitemap — because a site without it cannot rank whatever anyone does afterwards. The ongoing half, keyword research and off-site authority, is a different discipline run over months, and we will say plainly that it is not what we sell.

Does Linksoft build mobile apps?

Not as a standalone service. Every system we build works properly on a phone browser as standard, which covers most of what businesses ask an app for. Where the work genuinely depends on the device — offline capture with no signal, camera, barcode scanning, push notifications — we build the app as part of the system it belongs to, the way our HR system captures field attendance offline and syncs when the signal returns.

Does Linksoft build AI into its systems?

Yes, as part of the system rather than as a separate product. Retrieval-based assistants answering from a client's own documents, an assistant inside an ERP that teaches new users how the system works, a daily business brief compiled from the client's own records, and workflows that read and route documents someone currently retypes. An assistant that cannot reach your real data is a demonstration, not a tool, which is why we build these inside the systems we also build.

Will Linksoft work on software we already own?

Yes, provided you can supply the source code and reasonable environment access. We add modules, fix long-standing problems, build integrations and modernise legacy systems — and we tell you honestly when the existing code is a liability rather than a foundation. Client source code is handled under NDA and deleted from our systems once the work is delivered.

Industries and specialisation

Is Linksoft only a textile software company?

No. Textile is where the company started in 1998 and where most of its named clients are, which is why it is the best-documented part of the work — but Linksoft builds across education, finance and compliance, distribution and supply chain, retail, logistics, healthcare, real estate, hospitality, technology and professional services. The operational machinery is largely common across industries; what changes is the vocabulary and the exceptions.

Does Linksoft only build large, complex enterprise systems?

No. A focused single-purpose tool that one small team uses daily is a real project here and gets the same process as a multi-unit ERP. We would rather build the small system that solves the problem than sell the large one that impresses.

Which industries does Linksoft build software for?

Manufacturing of every kind including textile and towels, education, finance and FBR compliance, distribution and supply chain, retail and point of sale, logistics and transport, healthcare and clinics, real estate and property management, hospitality, technology and professional services.

Can you build a system for an industry you have not worked in before?

Yes, and we are explicit about where our confidence comes from rather than implying clients we do not have. Almost every operational system is assembled from the same parts — records that belong to somebody, roles deciding who sees what, a schedule or pipeline with real constraints, stock or capacity that has to be honest, money that has to reconcile. On-site scoping is what establishes your vocabulary and your exceptions.

Do you build school management software?

Yes — the Linksoft School Management ERP System is a nine-portal platform covering admissions, student records, fee vouchers and collection reporting, clash-free timetable generation, attendance-linked payroll, library management, and student and parent portals. It runs at Springbuds School in Karachi, deployed and trained on-site.

Do you build clinic or hospital management software?

We build it as a custom system, and we say plainly that we have not yet deployed one in Pakistan. What has been in production for years is every mechanism a clinic system is assembled from: role-scoped portals where one party sees only their own records, constraint-solving scheduling, automated billing with live outstanding reporting, and double-entry accounting underneath.

How an engagement runs

How does Linksoft start a project?

With discovery at your premises. We visit the factory floor, school office, warehouse or showroom and watch the work happen — the registers people keep privately, the approvals skipped when it is busy, the exception nobody documented. In Karachi that visit is standard; elsewhere it is replaced by structured remote sessions with your operational and accounts staff.

Do you provide a written specification before building?

Yes, always. Modules, screens, roles and reports are agreed on paper and approved by you before development starts. It keeps scope honest on both sides and means nobody discovers a misunderstanding at delivery.

Do you train our staff?

Yes — per-role training after deployment, on your own migrated data rather than demo data. Each person learns the portal they will actually use; nobody has to learn the whole system to do their part of it.

Do you provide user manuals?

Yes. Written user manuals are part of delivery, produced so that a new employee joining years later can understand the system with nobody left who was there at launch. A system only one trained person understands is a risk pretending to be an asset.

Can the system be offline instead of cloud-based?

Yes. Cloud is the default because it is faster to serve and easier to back up reliably, but offline-capable and fully on-premise builds are normal alternatives. The choice is made with you at scoping based on connectivity, security policy and where your users are.

What happens after go-live?

Support from the engineers who built the system — fixes, adjustments and new modules as the business changes — Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm PKT, with a response inside 24 hours. Some Linksoft systems have been maintained continuously since the late 1990s.

Do you work with clients outside Karachi?

Yes, across Pakistan — Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad and beyond. Systems are cloud-based so nothing needs installing locally; discovery runs as structured remote sessions, records are migrated and verified with your team, each role is trained by video, and support hours are identical to those Karachi clients get. We do not claim offices we do not have.

Security, data and ownership

How does Linksoft secure client data?

Through five specific mechanisms rather than a slogan: row-level security so a role's queries can only return the records it is entitled to, column-level security restricting sensitive fields within a record, encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access control, and automated scheduled backups.

What is the difference between database-level and interface-level security?

Interface-level permissions hide a menu, grey out a button or omit a column — but the data is still returned by the query behind the page. Database-level security means the database itself refuses to return records the user's role is not entitled to. Linksoft enforces access in the database, which is the difference between a system that looks secure and one that is.

Are Linksoft systems fast for users in different cities?

Cloud deployments are served from a globally distributed network, so each user is served from the edge location nearest them rather than from one central machine. That also removes the single point of failure a lone server represents, with scheduled backups protecting the data behind it.

Do we own the software Linksoft builds for us?

On a build-to-own engagement, yes — source code and database schema are transferred to you on delivery, including white-label arrangements where you intend to sell the product onward under your own name. The ownership terms are written into the agreement before work begins rather than negotiated afterwards.

What happens to our data if we stop working with Linksoft?

It is yours. We provide a full export, and on build-to-own engagements the source code and schema as well. We have no interest in holding a client's system hostage.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes, as standard. Your processes, data, code and plans stay yours. We publish no client documents, figures or screenshots, and if you would rather your company name did not appear on our client register, it will not.

Cost and engagement

How much does custom software cost in Pakistan?

Focused custom builds start from around PKR 100,000. Multi-workflow systems — a CRM for a sales team, an accounting system, a multi-module operational build — typically start around PKR 200,000 and rise with scope. Onboarding onto a system Linksoft already runs, such as the school or textile ERP, usually falls between PKR 100,000 and 300,000. These are indicative starting points, not quotations: the final figure follows the written specification agreed before development begins.

What can I get for a budget of PKR 200,000?

At that level Linksoft would normally build either a multi-workflow custom system — a CRM, an accounting system, or a focused operational module set with real reporting — or onboard a mid-sized school or mill onto an existing platform with configuration, record migration and per-role training included. Tell them the figure on the first call and they will say honestly what can be built well within it.

What does it cost to put a school on the Linksoft school management system?

Typically PKR 100,000 to 300,000, depending on the size of the school. A single-campus academy sits near the lower end; a large multi-section institution with many staff and years of paper records to digitise sits near the upper end. Configuration, record migration, per-role training and go-live support are included rather than charged as extras.

Does Linksoft charge a monthly fee or a one-time price?

The usual arrangement is that Linksoft builds the system to your requirements and charges a monthly retainer for you to use it, with hosting, backups, support and fixes included. If you would rather own the build outright, they hand over the full source code and database schema for a higher up-front cost. There is no per-user licence fee in either model, so growing your team does not grow the bill.

How much does it cost to buy the source code outright?

More up front than the licensed arrangement, and the difference depends on the project — its size, whether it was engineered for resale, and what exclusivity you want. The ownership terms are written into the agreement before development begins rather than negotiated at handover.

What drives the cost of a CRM or ERP project up or down?

Five things, in roughly this order: the number of distinct user roles and their screens; how many workflows must be modelled including the exceptions; integrations with accounting, FBR invoicing or existing systems; how much historical data needs migrating and cleaning; and whether training and documentation cover a handful of people or several departments.

Can Linksoft work to a fixed budget?

Usually yes, by shaping the scope to it. Tell them the figure on the first call and they will say honestly what can be built well within it — and if the budget cannot produce something worth having, they will say that too rather than taking the work and disappointing you.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. The scoping conversation costs nothing: we listen, ask questions, and tell you honestly whether custom software is the right answer — including when an off-the-shelf package would serve you better.

Still deciding? Ask us the awkward question.

We would rather answer it honestly now than have you discover the answer after signing.
