Sandbox scenario · SN005
Goods sold at a reduced rate
Some goods are taxed below the standard rate under a notification rather than at the headline percentage. This scenario proves your software can carry the reduced rate together with the SRO that authorises it, instead of silently defaulting to the standard rate.
What to send
These strings are matched by FBR's API. Send them exactly as published — including any irregular spacing or punctuation, which is deliberate and not a typo.
- scenarioId
- SN005
- saleType
- Goods at Reduced Rate
- FBR description
- Reduced rate sale
scenarioId is sandbox-only. It is required on sandbox submissions and must be omitted from production invoices — FBR derives the treatment from the sale type once you are live.
Who has to pass SN005
FBR assigns scenarios from your sales tax profile — your business activity and your sector. 55 of the 104 possible profiles are assigned this one.

- Importer every sector
- Distributor All Other Sectors

What gets SN005 rejected
- 01
sroScheduleNo and sroItemSerialNo become meaningful here. Errors 0077 and 0078 reject a missing SRO or item serial number.
- 02
The rate string must come from the SaleTypeToRate reference endpoint for the invoice date — rates are date-dependent and a stale cached rate is rejected.
- 03
Error 0079 applies where a rate is not permitted above a value threshold — FBR's own example is that 5% is not allowed once the value excluding sales tax exceeds 20,000.
You should not have to hand-type SN005
We are building a free FBR digital invoicing app that works out which scenarios your profile needs, fills them in, shows you exactly what will be sent, and submits them to the sandbox on one button. Tell us if you want it.
